I serve as a reading coach in a Title I school in rural South Carolina. Almost 90% of our 630 students qualify for free or reduced lunch, and nearly 25% of our students come from families without a high-school diploma. Engaging students with positive learning experiences is my primary goal. I want our students to know they're loved and to love to learn. This can be a challenge when our students come to school hungry and/or without parental involvement. As a reading coach, I have the capacity to reach children across all grade levels as I work with small groups, co-teach lessons with teachers, and help in planning family events focused on learning.
