As educators, we struggle to find engaging resources to captivate our students and keep their attention. In this technology-driven society, students lose interest in books. I try to incorporate literature into our classroom on a daily basis, but struggle to meet the needs of our state standards because a lack of resources. By incorporating these read aloud books, students can see their education come to life! Instead of talking about examples, I can show them examples using colorful, meaningful literature to bridge the gap. I teach in a low-income school so these students lack the real world experiences that most 8-9 year olds experience. I know that by incorporating these books, learning will be more fun for my students! "Pinduli" by Janell Cannon will be used to describe characters, character traits, and emotions, as well as explore adjectives! In this society where people fail to regularly communicate with their mouths, these skills are vital to the development of these young, impressionable minds. Children have to learn how to talk about these tough topics in order to deal with their emotions. With all of the current tragedies surrounding schools, the movement for positivity has to start with us.
