In the digital age, students are using technology more and more to learn and connect with others. In my classroom, computer tablets are used to enhance reading skills in non-fiction using FrontRow.com, practice math skills through standards-based math games from Prodigy.com, or to research historical events using Symbaloo.com. Many of these websites allow students to access work that is geared at their learning level, allowing students to work harder and see successes in their learning, especially for those that English is their second language. Having consistent access to technology would benefit my students greatly and give them control over their education while they have fun doing it. Our school is not a one-to-one technology school and the technology we have is shared among six grade-level teachers. Their are many more websites that can be used to enhance and extend learning, but the access to computer tablets limits my ability to use those resources consistently in my classroom and hinders my students' ability to reap the benefits of those resources.
