Have you ever sat through a lecture for a long period of time on a hard chair? Students are expected to sit in a hard metal chair for six hours a day. Imagine if children wobble, bounce, lean or stand while learning. Evidence has shown that students can benefit from these changes. Changes to a learning environment are often driven by student behavior. After close observation and collaboration, we have decided to change our classroom environment to meet the needs of all our students. Teaching in an inclusion classroom has showed us that flexible seating will be the best option for our students. This will allow our students to choose their comfortable seat and where they work in the classroom. If the students are comfortable where they are working, they can focus on their work.
