I want to help close the achievement gap through differentiated instruction. Many of my students are visual and kinesthetic learners and would benefit from the use of hands-on activities. These requested math manipulatives will help students develop mastery of common core standards by providing an authentic experience to students as they build problem solving techniques. The graphing chart pads, Pull-Down Erase Grid Chart, Fractions, Decimals & Percents Circles, Tangrams, Number Line Slider Boards, Static Cling Graph Girds, and individual Write & Wipe Graphing Boards with a coordinate grid on them will help my kinesthetic and visual learners master graphing equations. Having the dry erase boards with coordinate grids on them will help students develop confidence in mathematics and allow them to feel comfortable making mistakes. The Number Line Slider Boards will enhance my students' understanding of the number system and help them add and subtract integers. Finally, the Giant Activity Dice and Probability Spinners will be an excellent complement to our probability unit as students can conduct simulations to determine experimental probability of events. I may not be able to control my students home life but I can control how they experience mathematics inside my classroom. The materials I have requested will create a multi-sensory experience for my students. My goal is to not rest until every child reaches their next level of learning.
