This project will put the Nebraska Golden Sowers into the hands of fourth through sixth-grade students! Reading these books will enable students to be a part of a community of readers who work together to succeed. Students are engaged, excited, energized, and inspired to read as they prepare for the competition. Each year my district hosts Nebraska Golden Sower reading competition called, Operation Read. Elementary schools from the entire district come together for a fun and friendly Golden Sower competition. Every year I am amazed at how eager the students are to meet other kids who love to read and share in the excitement of the competition. I love the "buzz" as we prepare for the competition. You can literally see and feel the energy of the students and it is contagious! Last year at the end of the competition I overheard a student say, "This was so fun! I am going to start reading next year's books right away and we are doing this again!" This excitement is truly motivational and fills my heart with joy!
