Our school has seen an incredible positive change in students' feelings about reading and writing since implementing Daily 5, and I hope to continue that as we kick off the new school year. As students engage in Daily 5, they become motivated to improve in reading and writing through the power of choice- choosing good-fit books, types of writing, reading activities, workspaces, and personal goals. I want to encourage my students' self-motivation by providing them with more opportunities for choice and engagement. These Fire HD tablets will be included as a Daily 5 choice to give students an opportunity to listen to fluent reading and engage in virtual reading activities. The book bins and organizer will be a place for students to keep their individually chosen materials as well as additional activities and centers to help students meet their personal goals. I believe these tools will help my students build on the momentum of last year's changes and set them up for success during this school year and beyond.
