I teach a class that is designed for students with behavioral challenges. We spend our days working on social skills that will help them become successful so they are able to join their typical peers in general education. Our days are also filled with academics which are specifically designed so we can meet them where they are at. Our students are unique - at times they struggle to regulate their emotions but you would be hard pressed to find students that are as genuine and loyal as they are. As a teacher I am constantly looking for ways to keep them engaged and interested in school. Considering that the majority of them have not had successful experiences in their previous classrooms. Changing their perception of school is a challenge but is a challenge worth taking on.
