Our school is recognized as a School of Innovation through the State Department of Education in Arkansas. This opens the doors for the students to be introduced to what is available outside of our small town. Careers are constantly changing, along with technology. We strive to prepare our students for whatever they may face as adults. The materials that I chose will support reading, mathematics, and technology. These three things are very important when it comes to being a successful adult and citizen. I want my students to foster a love for reading, math, and technology. The Listening Center will reinforce reading strategies and fluency to the children. These are two important skills that we work on in First Grade. The math centers kit will give the children hands-on opportunities to learn at their own pace on a skill that we are covering. The Osmo iPad system that I am requesting will give the students an opportunity to learn about new technology while working on skills that need to be mastered. All three resources will be used in a center setting. A group of children will be working with each resource so that they can learn from the resource and each other.
