One of the bigger items on my list are the Android Tablets. I will use them to differentiate instruction. Pace differs, interests differ as well. I will use use the e-Learning arsenal to overcome this barrier and deliver the same course in different ways. For example, show videos or invite students to read interactively online. The tablet also accommodates special needs. Learners who have a disability will appreciate the tablet’s flexibility, freedom of access and tailored curriculum. They are critical to the development in the early learning years. The benefits of having tablets in the classroom will allow children to utilize online resources for reading and access to more programs that will help them grow. As a first year teacher, one of my goals is to help children foster a love of reading. Many of the other other items are series sets of books that will enhance my classroom library. They are essential because they are high interest books for 2nd graders. By providing effective, fun reading materials in the classroom, students will be able to get lost in books. Reading can be magical, where children can use their imaginations and grow as individuals. Another item I chose was the HP Officejet 3830 Wireless Color Photo Printer. In education, the link between color printouts and comprehension – as well as engagement – has been shown to be strong. Statistics show that nearly seven in 10 students can better comprehend new information when delivered through a color format. As I have a very diverse classroom with specific needs, I believe having access to colored print outs will be extremely beneficial. Lastly, we are constantly in a pencil shortage and they are essential to day to day learning. The sharpener that I purchased at the beginning of the year broke.
