These books that I am requesting have a ready and awaiting audience. My students are excited and curious to learn not only about their community but the larger global community. These books will give them access to that larger community. Our titles include Emmanuel's Dream: The True Story of Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah, The Other Side, Harlem's Little Blackbird: The Story of Florence Mills, Granddaddy's Turn: A Journey to the Ballot Box and more. My students' curiosity and natural inclination to effect change will be supported by this literature. I am excited to read with them and offer them such exciting stories that support various cultures and social justice ideas and inspiration. I know that by including this diverse literature into our classroom library and my lessons that I will inspire my students to effect change in the world.
