Kids of all ages are naturally active and struggle sitting still during class. These Wobble Chairs and Bouncy Bands encourage high energy children to get their wiggles out while remaining in their seats so their school work can be completed. Many of our students have ADD or ADHD and need to be able to wiggle while in the classroom. Regular chairs allow children to slouch resulting in poor posture. This can cause back problems later in life. Wobble Chairs naturally support good posture and healthy backs. I teach all 5th and 6th-grade science classes. Our school district has a very diverse population (3 main languages are spoken - English, Spanish, and French) in a low-income rural community. A large portion of our school's population qualifies for the free and reduced lunch program. This project will benefit approximately 85 students throughout the 2020-2021 school year and hundreds of more students in future years to come. Missouri Gov. Mike Parson has announced the economic impact of COVID-19 on the Missouri budget. The governor outlined a $500 to $700 million budget hole in the next fiscal year beginning July 1, with cuts to many state-funded services, including anticipated cuts that would affect K-12 education. This will impact our ability to purchase supplies like these for our students.
