This trip will give our fourth graders an immersive and comprehensive understanding of some key locations in Charleston at the time of the American Revolutionary War. Students will visit the Old Exchange, the Powder Magazine, and the Washington-Heyward House and learn about how each location played a critical role for the Patriots in Charleston. Our students rarely get to venture into the Downtown District of Charleston, and this field trip will provide them an incomparable experience as well as reinforcing our Social Studies standards and building upon classroom learning. This trip will give them concrete experiences that will go beyond textbook learning and help connect them to their home-city of Charleston.
