Thank you so much for coming to my classroom! My students are in need of new materials to enhance their learning environment. We are a self contained kindergarten and first grade classroom setting, located in the center of our poverty stricken community. Our community suffers from high drug use and unemployment rates. Many of my 125 students are affected by these adverse conditions leading to broken home lives and family displacements. These family situations often create stress not only for our students but on their families. In spite of these situations, my students come to school ready to learn and have fun. They are energetic and excited about learning, they want to explore everything they can. We do all we can to provide them with a safe and loving learning environment to help give them a fantastic foundation for a great educational career.
