Our classroom budgets have been cut from previous years, which has left little room for some of the extras. It's these extras though that can make the difference for some students. The students in my classroom would greatly benefit from flexible seating options so they can have an outlet to get their energy out while they work. The kick bands for the chairs are a great example of this. The Gaiam balance balls for seating would also aid the students who need to move during instruction times. This way their movements are not completely distracting to the other students working in the room. My students need seating that is as individual as they are. Their academic needs and goals cannot be accomplished if they are distracted or uncomfortable while learning and working. I recently found a few of my students are working better while standing. Unfortunately, traditional tables and desks do not comfortably accommodate this. The standing desk on my wishlist would help them tremendously. Thank you for giving some truly deserving students classroom work options and seating choices.
