I am requesting two class sets of subscriptions to Scholastic News and add-ons of Science Spin and Geography Spin to help our two classes of third grade students comprehend nonfiction texts. Scholastic News is a weekly full-color 2-page magazine that is chock full of high-quality nonfiction writing on current events. Each issue provides engaging photographs and other text features that really help my students to immerse themselves in the topics. Not only do these magazines help build foundational reading skills in nonfiction, but each one is tied to relevant topics that are very intriguing for young readers. Using these magazines helps me reach my students by combining several skills from several subject areas into one fun activity. Unfortunately, all of these awesome benefits come at a high cost. That is why I'm turning to you for help! Help my students get the engaging nonfiction magazines they crave!
