I teach a 8:1:1 self contained 3-5th grade class. All of my students are diagnosed with Autism or Down Syndrome and are met with a variety of challenges on a daily basis. Teachers are responsible for supplying their own classroom with materials which is very difficult when walking into a totally bare classroom. My school is made up of 48% ESL students. They require a lot of sensory input and manipulatives in order for them to achieve their greatest potential. I want to help my students reach all of their goals and having the proper materials is the first step.
