Building on the achievements of our first year, this year our students are excited to plan a “Senior Prom” for the local Senior Citizen Community. Our students will embrace the opportunity to develop connections with an older generation to help older adults feel a greater sense of fulfillment. We feel that linking older adults with youth can provide advantages for both groups and provide an opportunity for both to learn and share life lessons. Students will develop leadership and organization skills to collaborate and plan the event, reserve the venue and coordinate event details. They will make corsages for the women and boutonnieres for the men with the flowers. Students will blow up balloons and will give each person a crown and tiara pin. Students are learning table etiquette and will use the supplies to dress the table like they are expecting royalty. The experience will build a connection based on mutual respect for both the youngsters and the adults as they share this most fulfilling experience.
