Audio books are becoming more and more important for reading. Having these SanDisk - Clip Sport Plus 16GB* MP3 Players available for students to check out will give students who don't have devices an opportunity to listen. Providing these MP3 players will open this door to students. They will be able to download audio books or articles from our databases and listen to them at home. This will be especially helpful for students who need to read or research, but do not have internet at home. They can download books or articles at school and check out the device to listen at home. Students who speak English as a second language understand much more than they recognize. If students have the availability of listening to books or articles, they can follow along with the print version while listening to increase their skills. Many of our databases can also be translated into a students native language. Students who are auditory learners will also benefit from having the devices available for check out. Due to the low socioeconomic area that these students live, many do not have smart phones or tablets to access the audio information available in the library. Having these small MP3 players give them that access. The items are small, so they do not take a lot of space to carry, and they come equipped with earbuds for students to use. The earbuds are easily disinfected, so they are clean for the next student to check them out. It is exciting to think that soon all of my students can have access to the audio books and the option of listening to the database articles. All of our databases have the option to listen to the content, and many also have several languages available for our multilingual students.
