Our class functions around Growth Mindset skills of never giving up, and mistakes helping us to change our thinking and learn something new. My students are extremely motivated by a challenge and thrive when asked to problem solve! The Building Bricks Stem Challenge will allow my students to explore physical science concepts through completing the construction challenges. Their engagement as well as team work will truly bring their understanding to life! Implementing the Design and Build Engineering Centers in our classroom will supply the age appropriate materials to allow for my students to use data to drive their thinking. The center design specifically allows for my students to use questions and previous data or understandings to build personalized connections to learning. Additionally, the Design and Build Engineering centers encourage open-ended building, problem solving, and team work skills all within the classroom setting. They supply activities that allow students to become inventors and envision what it could be like in that field of work. My students will work on important STEM concepts like gravity, momentum and force, and structure while using the Block Play STEM Early Learning Kit STEM. They will work with statistics and probability at a kindergarten level, as they use what they found worked in one activity to drive how they approach a new structure. These students already have big dreams for what they want to be when they grow up, and these STEM materials will truly help to nurture the love and value for STEM inside them!
