My students will be able to read and comprehend this novel with minimal support, guaranteeing that they feel the success and sense of accomplishment that so many take for granted. The high interest content combined with the time topic and new movie will generate an internal motivation to engage actively in the classroom activities in my students. The more familiar structure of a fantasy/Sci-Fi novel will be much less confusing and intimidating than the typical high school fare. Thus creating a focus on comprehension skills and strategies rather than basic word calling and plot structure. We will read the novel "A Wrinkle in Time", then watch the movie to bring their understanding to a whole new level. Students cant help but compare the differences in a movie with the novel. So many opportunities for discussion and activities will organically arise from such an analytical exercise.
