Geometry is a subject that can make even the brightest math student frown. My students LOVE to do things that are important to them. By utilizing the digital camera, students can take a picture and create a project by using the picture to investigate the geometry used and display their creative piece for a project. One of the biggest CHALLENGES teachers face in the classroom today is offering a creative way for students to enjoy subjects like geometry. The process of writing, editing, and illustrating can be intimidating for my 9th grade students. We can motivate students to be creative! It is not magical. You do not need a Ph.D. All we need is understanding of what fires up a students imagination and motivation to complete a geometry project! What can we do to help our children retain an interest in math, while they develop skills and confidence in their research skills? We MUST allow them to be CREATIVE, have FUN, and become REAL mathematicians.
