The yoga balls that I am requesting for my students will have a specific place in the classroom. They will remain at their desks for the duration of the year. Students will have access to these materials each and every day. The yoga balls will be used as soon as the students come into the classroom at 7:40 in the morning. Students will be using them during English language arts, math, science, social studies, small group instruction, read alouds, buddy/partner work, etc. I have requested 25 yoga balls so I am able to place five of them at a small group table as well as whole group instruction. These will be used during guided reading during our Daily 5 routine. As a teacher, I have done some research on how effective flexible classroom seating is. I have also researched how ADHD and flexible seating correlate and how it can benefit my students to best meet the needs of their learning styles. The donations to this project will help keep my students focused during the school day while encouraging movement as a way of engagement. By using these yoga balls, students will begin to feel themselves focusing and using movement in a positive way to exert the kinesthetic energy during the school day. We will use these yoga balls to enhance our learning and improve student achievement in all subject areas.
