In wrestling you are required to wear headgear and it can be expensive to buy a set for an entire team. In order to start this team, we need to wear them or we will not be allowed to wrestle. Many other schools in our league are going to have to find ways to fund raise the money for their headgear and kneepads or not compete and possibly loose their team. Headgear is required to prevent injury that can cause permanent damage to the outer and inner ear. This is something that many wrestlers will have to deal with in their life and wearing headgear is one way to prevent injury. The safety of our student athletes is our number one concern.
