My students need a CD player and headphones for my low-level learners. My students are 9th graders and the majority of them read at a middle school level. When they read on their own, they have a hard time understanding. When they are read to or they listen to the book or novel, they have a better understanding because they can hear the words and how they are pronounced. Not only will the CD player help my low-level learners, but the headphones will also help them in the reading process. The majority of the kids do not have technology at home and resources to help them, so most of the work is done in class. If they miss a chapter, they can listen to it on their own and work at their own pace.
