Pedaling and steering a tricycle is an imperative motor skills for transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students. There is lots of research that supports their importance and I want to ensure my students can reap the amazing benefits of learning to ride! Riding trikes can help students develop upper body strength, posture and directionality that will help them to develop their fine motor skills, such as writing. There are several proven benefits to tricycle riding, the least of which is that it is just plain FUN! With these tricycles our students will be given the chance to learn directionality, body awareness, safety rules, balance, turn taking, coordination and much much more. Right now, our students lack opportunities for safe cardiovascular, full body play. They have limited green space and experience many falls on the black top as they run and play during recess time. These tricycles would give them more choices to get their heart rates up, and expend their energy in a safe way.
