My students deserve the most memorable Kindergarten year that I can give them, and that should include a colorful, but instructional gathering space. Something I have always remembered and loved about my year in Kindergarten was song and story time on the color squares. I always felt safe, comfortable, and welcome in my space there, and I want the same for my littles. Alaska winters, while beautiful, are very dark. This bright space will make our classroom feel even brighter and happier during the dark hours we are at school. Right now we have a grey rug I brought from home that we gather on, but we can do better. We are a 100% military school, so all of my students are a part of military families. The military life is rewarding in many ways but can be very trying for little ones. Because of this, school turns into a sort of refuge from the chaos. It should be safe, inviting, and full of love. I have worked hard to give my kids this type of space, and this rug will be the final piece. Thank you SO much for your consideration with our project! We are super excited!
