Flexible seating will give my students voice and choice within our classroom. This past year I began giving students options of where to sit when completing independent work, and I saw a huge impact! Even as kindergarten students, they took such ownership in choosing their spot and getting work completed while in that spot. My classroom is a team-taught inclusion classroom. Having flexible seating options will greatly benefit my special needs students, but I also believe it will benefit ALL learners in my classroom. The options I have chosen will enable them to get out their energy, which sometimes can impede their ability to finish work. I know that flexible seating would be a positive change for my classroom this upcoming school year.
