Our fourth-graders have been busy baking bread for the food pantry in our community throughout the winter months. We are in need of bread pans for making multiple loaves at one time. The baguette french bread pan and three strap bread pans will do the trick! As we build up our repertoire of recipes, we could sure use a KitchenAid Stand Mixer for working with wet dough. With these new additions to our kitchen classroom, we'll be more productive! The fourth-graders will be challenging our school community to support the local food pantry during the spring by having a Community Bread Challenge. Teachers, students, parents and community members will be asked to make and donate bread to the food pantry. The students made a video on how to make no-knead bread that is posted on the school website and planned a community gathering with the entire school to roll out the project. And, of course, we continue to make lots of bread! With support from our community partners, The Center for an Agricultural Economy, The Galaxy Bookshop, and Buffalo Mountain Coop, we'll take our service learning projects to new heights!
