The goal is to add more flexible seating for my students. Our classroom currently has two seating options. We have chairs and some students enjoy sitting on the floor in a safe spot to work or read. The addition of 7 wobble chairs in our classroom would be a huge support for my students. It would allow students' choice, increase their physical health, as well as increase their comfort. Students feel empowered by having choice and control over their environment. Flexible seating allows students to choose where they would like to work and who they would like to work with. Children need to move around. They need to get their 'wiggles' out. Wobble chairs allow students to get that movement without being a distraction. Sitting in the same place/position can get uncomfortable after a while. Students that have the opportunity to choose comfortable seating is going to make them feel more relaxed and it will promote a desirable classroom environment. The wobble chairs would be great to have as an option during guided reading groups. The chairs we have right now are too big and it is hard for some of my students to fit at the table. The wobble chairs would allow for increased space and movement around our tables.
