I teach at an IB school in Longmont, Colorado. It is one of the oldest still operational schools in Colorado. I am very fortunate to get to teach in the beautiful old building. My students are a fun loving, creative group. They value their own learning and are rarely afraid to take on a new challenge. I am a Kodaly certified music teacher. If you're not familiar with the Kodaly philosophy, it is best summarized as a collection of researched best practices that focuses on using quality music that reflects the culture which you reside in, as well as exposure to music from other cultures. There is also a focus on musical literacy, but not at the expense of the joy of music. If you walk in my classroom you will find students learning through games, puppets, group work, singing, instruments, and movement.
