My students are newcomers, they're new to the country for less than a year. How much exposure to the English language varies with each student. My job is help inspire them to learn and see the tremendous value in becoming bilingual. We are a Title I school and many students receive free lunch. Our ESL needs are growing and so our kids. Our ESL population is has almost doubled, because of boundary changes. The majority of the students are Spanish speaking. Although our school made it through Hurricane Harvey, many are struggling to rebuild.
