Students spend almost seven hours in my classroom each day. Sitting in a hard and uncomfortable desk for that long can make anyone want to be elsewhere! Research shows that an uncomfortable student can be a distracted and unproductive student. Kids need movement, and flexible seating provides this to them. Flexible seating encourages students to choose a spot where they can be calm, comfortable, and focused. The ability to choose their own seat empowers students and makes them take a more involved approach to their education. Whether students choose to sit on a wobble cushion, inflatable chair, balance ball, rug, or stool, they should be comfortable and ready for a full day of learning!
