Everything chosen for this project will contribute to our school's first-ever garden! We will be using some ancient watering techniques in the form of ollas and will be making these out of terracotta pots glued together. In order to supplement our curriculum, we selected a small set of books to add to our modest selection and a poster displaying the plant growth cycle. In addition, we are requesting a soil testing kit to study and ensure that the soil composition is appropriate for high yield growing. This program is going to be chalk-full of learning experiences in all disciplines of education and life. We anticipate an abundance of growth that will provide the school with an opportunity to give back to our community, team up with the high school's culinary program, and still be able to establish a sustainable program by selling produce in the local farmer's market. This is going to be a-maize-ing.
