Light filters will provide an environment that is more conducive to reading and learning in our classroom. fluorescent lights are harsh and too intense. Students with autism can be distressed by lighting that is too bright. Students with autism suffer from sensory systems that can be hypersensitive to bright lights. Providing a warm, inviting environment that alleviates sensory distress that many students with autism often endure in public buildings. Addressing environmental fixes are the easiest first steps to working with children that need sensory desensitization and intervention in order to focus on learning. A more neutral environment that does not impose stress will positively impact my students.
