After sitting in a student chair for a staff development, it became abundantly clear that student chairs are VERY uncomfortable, to the point that one becomes desperate to get out of them! I have noticed this to be true for my students as well. With seat cushions, I feel that students will stay better focused on their learning, and be more apt to stay in class. They will literally be more comfortable and not looking for a reason to get out of their uncomfortable seat. Less learning will be lost if they are in the classroom in a learning environment that doesn't physically hurt to be a part of. In addition, an author's chair will help make chosen Spotlight Author's feel especially excited to share their selected writing. Many students are anxious to be our Spotlight Author, and with a special author's chair it will help them feel like a true highlighted author.
