Remember lap time? It is that time when little ones sat on Momma or Daddy's lap and listen to books. Well my students' are middle school, pre-teens but they still need that lap time. I can't sit them on my lap but I can give them an opportunity to not only read a novel or class book but listen to it. It is a fact that students with learning difficulties become better learners when they can use both their visual and listening senses. With a small listening center in our classroom, I can use that opportunity to have students focus on listening and following along with a book.
