This past unit, my students did not have access to a novel to meet our Common Core literature standards. The love of learning is encouraged and continued through reading literature. The funding for this project will allow every student in 6th grade the opportunity to read their own copy of "The Boy Striped Pajamas." With every student having access to the book, they will be able close read and annotate in the text. This book is used as a vehicle to teach skills and building values within students. For example, "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" elaborates on the value of empathy and differences that my students have been learning about so far in the classroom and daily interactions with peers.
