With classroom rugs, I am able to give the students opportunities to learn in different ways such as a whole group, small group, partners and individually. Students in Kindergarten have a short attention span so being able to comfortably move and sit in different areas of the classroom is essential in keeping students engaged and learning. The large rug would be a common meeting place for students and the teacher used daily for the morning meeting, lessons and practice, reading and sharing thoughts as well as coming together as a community. The large rug will give students a place where they can comfortably and safely come together every day. Using this rug to create a common, respectful and safe area where students can gather to learn and share is important to creating successful learners.
