Flexible seating will increase my students' motivation and willingness to learn. As 8th graders, they spend most of their days sitting in a chair, facing the front of the room. When they come to my class, I want them to be able to choose different areas to sit, especially during independent work or reading time. My students read for 10 minutes a day at the beginning of each class. They love to move about the room and get comfortable during these times. These alternative seating arrangements will allow my students to be comfortable while they showcase their talents. Right now, my classroom has one spot for them to go, but I would like for them to have multiple spots to choose from. My classes are large, and currently, I only have room for two people to sit in an alternative location with comfort. The individual stools will allow my students to choose any spot in the room to sit, while the stools with the table will provide a comfortable, nontraditional seating arrangement.
