New Chromebooks will allow students in the Creative Writing program to express their ideas, learn about different forms of writing, by writing them, and collaborate and share their ideas. Our current technology is outdated and is being taken out of service, however, our district's budget concerns do not allow for a plan to replace them. At a time in their education when everything seems to focus on data and career preparation, the creative writing program allows students to think deeply and develop those thoughts in a creative form. Students also report that writing in a variety of forms also impacts the way they read and analyze both fiction and non-fiction in their other classes. With new Chromebooks to facilitate research, organization and publishing of their work, the creative impulse will continue to be nurtured in our students.
