Music classrooms are wide open spaces that accommodate creativity and exploration of sound and movement. Still, every student needs a spot they can call their own during whole-group instruction. My classroom has a hard vinyl floor that makes it difficult to mark spots for students to sit- tape and other adhesives are easily damaged and destroyed during movement activities, and any sort of movable marking materials aren't ideal for consistent seating arrangements. The Flex-Space "A Place for Everyone" carpet will provide a comfortable learning environment for each student in my classroom. Clearly marked boxes on the carpet reinforce how we create and respect each others' personal space, while the color-coded rows help younger children quickly find their spot. Along with those practical benefits, many of my students have been letting me know that they want a more comfortable place to sit during whole-group instruction and while playing instruments. Cold, hard vinyl floors can get uncomfortable very quickly, and my students would be very excited to each have a warm and comfortable square that they can call their own.
