Most teachers will tell you that Science and Social Studies do not receive the same attention as Reading and Math. The resources that I have chosen are great to have when I am using technology while teaching those subjects. Nearpod and Flocabulary have engaging animated and real-life videos that really appeal to my students. They also have assessments built-in which saves planning time for me and allows me to immediately review data so I can target struggling students. The engagement by the students allows them to retain the information, oftentimes better than when I teach from a textbook. Imagine students creating a poem with the steps on how to apply the Scientific Method. They then put the words to a beat. They can do that on Flocabulary. Flocabulary reinforces cross-curricular learning. In that one example, my students worked on Science, Writing, Using Technology, and Public Speaking, all areas that they are required to master. Nearpod will allow us to take virtual field trips to places all around the world. It uses vivid 3D photography that almost makes you feel like you are on location. I need you to help me best utilize the time I have and make it the most meaningful for our students.
