This project will give my students so many opportunities to build responsible choice making while they are learning. The students will be able to make a choice about where they want to sit to give them the best chance at success in the classroom. Today, our students struggle to maintain focus, sit still, lean back in chairs and want to lay down during class time. These are not safe practices in a classroom and make it difficult for both the students and the teacher to focus. We are here to learn and to read, but we need to move around. The wobble seat, exercise ball and balance seats will help those students safely lean in their seats, move around and maintain focus. For those students who focus better sitting on the floor, the mats and cushions give them the chance to sit comfortably while being successful and focused. The lap desks will benefit those students who can’t see from the back of the room and can’t work in an uncomfortable position. They will be able to sit up and focus on what they are doing from anywhere they want. Finally, for those students that can't seem to sit still, they will be able to wobble and move while maintaining focus and responsibility. Through flexible seating, the students will not only improve their posture and focus, but their motivation to learn which will directly impact their ability to feel successful each and everyday.
