Our students generally sit at the regular desks all day. It is quite uncomfortable. The floor is the only other option if they want to read somewhere else, which is unsafe. Flexible seating will permit the students to read in comfort and improve their ability to read longer in a single session. This is the most important thing we can do in education. Reading is the bottleneck for all other educational pursuits. If we can get them to enjoy reading now, we have the best chance to improve their chances in the future. Study after study shows that flexible seating improves the student's ability to focus and read.
