An Intense Intervention classroom teaches the same lesson multiple times in a specific way, to small groups of students. They are given opportunities to use their learned skills in the school building and in the community. Some students need adaptations and accommodations to complete the skills we are teaching. The goal is independence in ALL tasks. To gain independence, some of my students need sturdier headphones and keyboards that plug into their iPads. This will decrease their reliance upon others to do their work, because they are able to complete their work with less adult intervention and more independence. Using earbuds with some of my students would be difficult because they cannot manipulate them. The sturdy, over the ear headphones will be more comfortable for all my students, as well as the students with hearing impairments. They will be able to put them on and take them off without assistance. Other students are not able to use the keyboard on their iPad. It is too sensitive, too small, and the keys do not have enough separation between them for my students with Physical Disabilities. Using the Califone keyboards will decrease their frustration while increasing their independence.
