These books will make a difference in my students' learning because many of my students do not have access to non-fiction books at home or transportation to the library. In my hopes to help make social studies exciting and meaningful, my 4th graders will be doing a biography "Wax-Museum" project. For this project, students will be choosing an important person to research. They will be learning all about this person's life and will then "become" that person for our Wax-Museum, which will be on display for the other grades in our school. For the Wax-Museum, the students will be dressing up as their famous person and preparing a speech to share important aspects of their person's life. As other grades come to "tour" the museum, the students will "come alive" and share their brief speeches as people walk by them. In class, we will be creating books about our famous people to display in the "museum," as well. Having these books in my classroom from year to year would allow me to provide my students with materials to use for their research projects.
