My students are able to do much more rigorous work using a calculator. They enjoy inquiry based projects and projects that they themselves can initiate. I love it when my students share with me their dreams for after they graduate from college. We use those aspirations as the focus of our math inquiry projects. Our students need the fundamental tools in order to succeed in today's competitive society! Use of the calculator builds an eagerness in my students to stretch their minds on all kinds of math investigations. One project involves architectural skills which have real applications to their own lives.
