My students need small group guided reading experiences so they can learn to begin to believe in themselves as readers. It is vital to get my students reading as early as possible because many of them don't get practice at home. They need books they can read at an instructional level so they can grow as readers. The Rigby PM readers are perfect for English Language Learners because they offer a consistent cast of characters, engaging plots, pictures that offer supportive decoding clues, controlled introduction of sight words and consistent language structures--so important for children learning English! I've been teaching for 20 years and have used these materials in other school districts, but in my current school in Alaska, we do not have any Rigby PM books. Ideally, my students should be reading 2-3 new guided reading books a week. Your help is greatly appreciated!
