Education is so focused on moving forward, but many times students are held back because they do not have the same access to technology as others. A small set of tablets for use by students who do not have smartphones, tablets, or laptops of their own will be very beneficial to helping all students stay on task and stopping any from falling behind. In my classroom, we use technology for everyday assignments like grammar, bell ringers, definitions, and review. Our school does not have 1:1 technology--we have a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) set-up where students are welcome to use their own technology when approved by the teacher. Students without a Device are left borrowing a friend's phone or going to ask for extras from other classes. Just a small amount of technology available for students to borrow on an everyday basis would be helpful. It would keep students from standing out in a negative way to their peers, and help them keep up with classwork.
